On Friday, May 16, 2008, we honored and celebrated Alex's life with a Memorial Service at Emmanuel Church in Boston's Back Bay.  Bishop Tom Shaw, Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, presided and offered extremely touching and soothing words about Alex (Bishop Shaw had been Alex's spiritual advisor).

Jep Streit, Dean of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, then led us in a ceremony of Holy Communion, which Jep explained to us represented the integration of two critical elements of Alex's work and thought: traditional ecclesiology and ritual and a queer representation of Christ's friendship and love.

The following words of remembrance from family and friends were offered at the service:

Lily Jimenez

Marc Solomon

Angela Aguayo

Charles Morris

Following the memorial service, we gathered at the home of Chuck Morris and Scott Rose to relax, eat and drink.

Later in the day, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, we celebrated Alex's life at Club Cafe, his favorite Boston spot, in the way he loved to celebrate--cosmos, Madonna, and dancing.  Angela put together a wonderful slide-show reminding us of Alex's beautiful smile, exuberance, and friendships.

We will soon post a link to a video of the service.
